CAT AND DOG VACCINES: PROTECT YOUR PET

Vaccinating your cat or dog is essential to protecting them against infections common in their species that they can catch and transmit in different ways, including to you, your family members, and your visitors. That’s right: some infections (like rabies) can be spread from animals to humans. They’re what’s known as zoonotic diseases.

You can see why vaccination is so important —  but it’s normal for you to have questions. That’s why we’re here! Ask your veterinarian for advice. We can help you make an informed decision—one that’s best for you and your pet.

CATS AND DOGS: DIFFERENT ILLNESSES, DIFFERENT VACCINES

Some infections are specific to certain species and others aren’t, meaning your cat and dog may not receive the same vaccines.

CAT VACCINES

Vaccination can protect your cat against illnesses and infections like:

  • Feline panleukopenia
  • Feline viral rhinotracheitis or herpes virus
  • Rabies
  • Feline leukemia virus
  • Feline calicivirus

DOG VACCINES

Your veterinarian may recommend vaccinating your dog against:

  • Distemper
  • Infectious tracheobronchitis (kennel cough)
  • Canine parvovirus
  • Rabies
  • Infectious canine hepatitis
  • Lyme disease
  • Leptospirosis

SAFE VACCINES SPECIFIC TO YOUR PET

We want your pet to feel good and only get the injections and antibodies they absolutely need. During your pet’s exam, we’ll talk to you and ask questions to get more information about their specific situation. Does your cat go outside? Do you have any other pets? We’ll tell you which vaccines are needed to protect the whole family and which aren’t.

Once we’ve determined a vaccine schedule, we’ll take our usual steady, calm approach and will vaccinate your precious pet using safe products and protocols approved by the Globalvet scientific committee. We care about your pet and give them nothing but the best.

CAT AND DOG VACCINATION: HANDY REMINDERS

To maintain adequate protection, vaccines must be administered regularly—some annually, others every 3 years, and so on. Check with your veterinarian, but not to worry: our clinics usually contact you to schedule an appointment when it’s time for your cat or dog to get shots. We’re here for you!
