POSITIVE APPROACH TO WELLNESS (PAW) CERTIFIED CLINICS

PAW Certification

PAW CERTIFICATION: A GENTLE WAY TO PROMOTE PETS’ PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL WELLBEING

AT GLOBALVET, OUR PHILOSOPHY IS THAT THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN VET, CLIENT, AND PET IS ESSENTIAL TO AN ANIMAL’S WELLBEING.

THE POSITIVE APPROACH TO WELLNESS (PAW) PROGRAM IS A WAY FOR YOU TO TAP INTO YOUR VETERINARY TEAM’S COMBINED EXPERTISE IN PET CARE.

WHAT IS THE POSITIVE APPROACH TO WELLNESS (PAW) PROGRAM?

As the name suggests, it’s a gentle strategy we use to ease your pet’s anxiety before, during, and after a vet visit.

PAW hinges on the idea that, to promote animals’ physical and psychological wellbeing, you first have to understand and respond to their emotions. Globalvet veterinarians don’t just provide great care—they build trust between themselves, your pet, and you.

Why? Because a less stressful, more enjoyable vet visit is better for everyone. The dreaded trip to the vet is a thing of the past! We want to make the experience so pleasant that you’re comfortable coming to us for the big stuff and enjoy coming in for the small stuff, like routine exams, expert advice, or just to say hi. It’s a win-win!

WHAT IS POSITIVE APPROACH TO WELLNESS (PAW) CERTIFICATION?

Our comprehensive approach prioritizes your pet’s overall health, including the bond you build with them. Having a pet adds so much to your life. We do everything we can to help you return the favour by keeping your companion happy and healthy.

PAW PROGRAM AT A GLANCE

ANALYZE AND INTERPRET

When you bring your cat or dog into a PAW certified clinic, your veterinarian will analyze and interpret:

  • Their body language
  • How they respond to stress
  • Other signs of negative emotions

Our goal is to tailor the experience so you both walk away happy!

MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS

Based on their analysis and interpretation, the vet will make recommendations to help you improve your relationship with your pet.

TAKE ACTION

As a PAW certified clinic, your veterinary team wants what’s best for your pet, which means reducing their (and your) stress before, during, and after every visit.

Every animal is unique. That’s why your vet will tailor their approach and treatment plan to your cat’s or dog’s specific emotions and needs. This may include:

  • Using treats and toys to make the experience more pleasant
    • (With your approval, of course!)
  • Using positive reinforcement to teach your cat or dog to cooperate so they don’t have to be restrained
  • Creating an environment designed to reduce stress, based on the most recent scientific data

INTRODUCE PRODUCTS

Your veterinary team knows all about soothing pet-friendly products like:

  • Neutraceuticals and pharmaceuticals for fear and anxiety
  • Safe and effective pharmaceuticals designed to provide targeted sedation, anaesthesia, and pain relief

ADAPTING THE ENVIRONMENT

While staff can do a lot to alleviate vet visit stress, the layout of the clinic itself is also important. That’s why the team finds ways to make small but tangible adjustments that have a positive impact on our patients, clients, and staff.
